Machida vs. Shogun II could be moved?

Picture_1_medium

We can add another layer to our UFC 113 speculation station as Lyoto Machida's twitter account featured a cryptic update.

"My next fight against shogun is scheduled for May 1st, but there is a possibility to change. If it does I’ll let you know through here."

The option of moving the light heavyweight title fight may have to do with scheduling issues for Zuffa or due to an injury but as of this moment this is simply a rumor. The UFC could move Machida vs. Rua II back to headline UFC 114, which is three weeks later in Vegas and coincides with the UFC Fan Expo.

URDirt.com points out that this may have to do with the potential Mayweather-Mosley fight being tentatively scheduled on the same day as UFC 113. The last time the UFC went head-to-head with a Mayweather boxing fight the Zuffa product got its ass kicked. Granted that card was nowhere near as good as UFC 113 could be.

Mayweather won’t really fight Mosely. Everyone knows Mayweather requires his opponents to be at least two weight classes below welterweight.
