Rampage vs. Rashad at UFC 114
Dave Meltzer reports that the anticipated clash of TUF 10 coaches will likely take place at UFC 114 on May 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Another change made is in arguably UFC’s biggest fight on the books at this point: the Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Rashad Evans match built on the last season of "The Ultimate Fighter" with the two as rival coaches. The match will likely take place at UFC 114 on May 29 in Las Vegas instead of the originally announced UFC 113 show on May 1 in Montreal. UFC president Dana White said in a text message Tuesday morning that Jackson vs. Evans will most likely take place in Vegas.
Just for the sake of gloating, WKR totally called it.
Evans vs. Jackson is an obvious main event fight and its rumored placement on UFC 113 raised eyebrows from the beginning simply due to the lack of a main event fight, nor a likely main event fight candidate for UFC 114, which takes place just three weeks later. Since UFC 114 is in the UFC's hometown of Vegas and coincides with the UFC Fan Expo it would make sense that Zuffa would want to deliver a marquee main event rather than have a a less than stellar main event like two forty year old guys fighting...
There were some rumors that the Machida vs. Shogun fight could be moved. While Meltzer's report means that the light heavyweight title fight won't be moved off the 113 card; it could still be moved back a week as the event may go head-to-head with Mayweather vs. Mosley.
