UFC 108 Results: Sam Stout Weathers Early Storm to Defeat Joe Lauzon on Points
Sam Stout secured the first underdog victory of the night by defeating Joe Lauzon via unanimous decision in a possible "Fight of the Night" winner.
At the very beginning of the fight it appeared that everything was going according to plan for Lauzon who was making his return from a ten month lay-off due to an ACL injury. Lauzon was able to take Stout down at will and he cut the Canadian striker above his eyes. Lauzon even almost finished the fight with a kimura but as the first round continued the takedown attempts from Joe became weaker and Stout's punches began finding flesh. It soon became apparent that the principle question mark surrounding Lauzon's return i.e., how good is his cardio coming off of major surgery, was being answered.
After the first round it was all Sam Stout who pressured the tired Lauzon on all fronts. Joe's superior grappling skills were rendered void due to his inability to finish takedowns as a result of his evaporating cardio.
The third round was more of the same as Stout was able to chop Lauzon down and even though Joe got the fight to the ground briefly it wasn't enough as all three judges scored each round for Stout.
It was a bad night for the Lauzon brothers as Joe joined his brother Dan in the loser's circle at UFC 108

Poor J-Lau
Gassin in the first. He was comin back a few months earlier than doctors had told him he would. He’ll be back with 3 rounds of steam next time I’m sure.
Even a broken clock is right two times a day.
