Fabricio Werdum vs. Fedor 99% confirmed

Tatame.com spoke to Werdum regarding the possible Fedor fight:

Fabrício Werdum revealed to TATAME.com that the rumored fight against Fedor Emelianenko will probably take place in April 16th. "The fight against Fedor is 99% confirmed to April 16th. I have three months to train to the most important fight of my life", Werdum said, confident in a victory. "I already have a strategy set. I can't submit a guy like Fedor in the arm, in the leg, he would never tap... I'll make history. Beat Fedor doesn't mean I'm better than him, because he's the man, but I'll be better than him in that night".

Well, there wasn't really anyone else for Fedor to fight so a 99% confirmation sort of already existed unless Strikeforce wanted to go the EliteXC route.

Beat Fedor doesn’t mean I’m better than him, because he’s the man, but I’ll be better than him in that night.

Wow, it so refreshing to hear a fighter honestly explain what a victory means. After all, most fans can agree that Matt Serra is not better than GSP. However, Matt Serra was better than GSP on that one night.

After Forrest Griffin defeated Rampage and before Shogun faced Mark Coleman, I would hear people quickly place Forrest Griffin in the upper echelon of the LHW division. Many people were claiming he was better than Jackson, Shogun, and a number of other fighters. I couldn’t believe it. By the end of UFC 101, many fans began to realize that Griffin was highly over-rated. Please note, I WOULD LOVE to see Griffin-Shogun 2.

I still can’t get over how unbelievable that was

I really, really couldn’t agree more. If this was the POV marketing was done from I think we’d get even better matchmaking in the states.

But, on the unpopular side, this is also why I think Mo should be given a shot at Fedor or Gegard. Let him get smashed and then learn from it.

And I heartily second the Forrest/Shogun rematch. KO anyone?
