Canada Health Provider Objects to Lesnar's 'Third-World' Comment

Lesnar-health_medium_medium

It's been two days since Lesnar referred to his medical treatment in Canada as being "third-world" care and our neighbors to the north and not happy with Brock's statements.

Ms. Olson, the CEO of Brandon's regional health authority, disputes Lesnar's characterization of events.

"I take real exception to being referred to as a third-world country operation. We have state-of-art equipment here. We are hardly a one-horse operation. The attending physician was very qualified and very respected. He's been in the business for more than 30 years. And he has the skills to diagnose a condition such as diverticulitis without a CT scan. We have checked this particular health record and were are quite confident that the correct diagnosis was given and the best course of treatment offered. I wouldn't be so arrogant as to compare ourselves to the Mayo Clinic, they're the experts. But I really take exception to someone giving us that kind of media coverage for their own political reasons. Who knows, maybe he didn't like the bill."

Regardless of your political leanings on healthcare in the United States, Lesnar made a critical mistake by making such a drastic generalization then refusing to provide details on his experience while offering it is a rallying cry to political action. It makes Brock's comments the equivalent of Keith Olberman's comments on Scott Brown.

Blame Canada

Health care is actually what we are known for. That and hockey players, pop divas, maple syrup, mounties, beavers, beer….

anything that comes out of a meathead like brock i now tend to ignore or just not read but did they diagnose him with it? seems like they didn’t and thats what his beef was.

as for olberman that f’n guy is a just a piece of shit to put it lightly. he makes awful comments about people in desperate attempts to gain some ratings and spew his own hate for people who don’t agree or feel the same as him on issues.

two things

First, I think the mystery of what the hell happened at the Canadian facility is what makes his comments out of touch. The hospital isn’t going to reveal their actual

Secondly, I made the Olbermann comment bc I didn’t want to be seen as taking a side in the health care debate as dissecting Brock’s criticisms could be seen as defending Canadian health care and as extension arguing for reform. I wanted to stay a-political so it seemed appropriate to bring up something bizarre that a known liberal said and Keith was a good example.

Let’s try to avoid this becoming a political thread

You shoulda known

If you post an article about someone’s political beliefs, you are going to get a political debate.
If you just woulda posted the issue inquiring what really happened in Canada, you would have gotten a bunch of guys who think they are doctors giving you their diagnoses.
Healthcare debate should have never been brought up on an MMA board.

So is she saying the doctor did correctly diagnose it as diverticulitis, but didn’t have a working CT scanner to confirm it? When you sift through all the BS in Brock’s rant, the only specific thing he said was exactly that… their scanner wasn’t working, so he got in the truck and fucked off. He never said they misdiagnosed him. Other than than that he was just vaguely talking shit.

I think that is indeed the case. Truth is, when you are in buttfuck Manitoba, or any small town Canada, they might not have a CT scanner. When that happens you are usually moved by ambulance to the nearest center for further tests. This is what happens when hospitals are catering to a population of say 20 000-25 000 people spread over hundreds of miles. I mean Manitoba has a population density of 3.42 peoples per square miles and the area around Brandon has about the same… not exactly New York City.

but a CT scan doesn’t do anything for treatment all it does is confirm the diagnoses
