Rashad vs. Rampage in May 2010?
After a sabbatical to coach and film The Ultimate Fighter season ten, and a sudden retirement in order to play a role in the A-Team; the long awaited fight between Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson may have a new date.
Dana White spoke to reporters after UFC 108 and indicated that Evans and Jackson could meet in May.
"We're thinking maybe, probably May," White said when asked about the proposed match-up between Evans and Jackson. "Probably May, it may make sense. That's going to be a sick card up there."
...
"This fight should have happened a few weeks ago, it didn't, but I'm over it," White commented. "I'm past it, I think Rashad is too, and now it's time to do that fight as soon as he's done with his movie."
The "up there" that Dana White is referencing is UFC 113 on May 1st in Montreal, Canada. That fight card is currently rumored to feature a light heavyweight title rematch between Champ Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Adding Rashad vs. "Rampage" would instantly make the card a blockbuster event and make Canadian's very, very happy (a goal we share here at WKR).
However, there is the possibility that the UFC could use Jackson vs. Evans as a headliner or co-main event for UFC 114 on May 29th in Las Vegas, Nevada. That card is set to coincide with the UFC Fan Expo and would certainly be a popular fight for fans.
For those of you who may have forgotten why Rampage and Rashad were coaches on TUF 10, and why the UFC invested so much time and effort in these two fighting let's review the video evidence.
Yep, "black on black crime" is always a big get in the fight business.
