Nick Diaz defeats Marius Zaromskis to win vacant Strikeforce welterweight title
Nick Diaz defeated DREAM welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis to win the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title at Strikeforce: Miami.
Both Diaz and Zaromskis threw caution to the wind as they engaged in a shoot out. Nick took the upper hand early with his "punches in bunches" technique that caught Marius off guard. Zaromksis was able to rebound as he caught Diaz with a hook, which cut the Stockton native. But Nick recovered quickly and unleashed his own onslaught of strikes. Zarmoskis was finally felled by a simple straight punch, but in reality the Lithuanian fighter was on the verge of being knocked out for what seemed like a full minute as each successive punch from Diaz caused Marius to buckle.
Diaz will most likely face Jay Hieron next.
