Thiago Silva's Bad Back to Blame for Letting Rashad Off the Hook?

WKR was completely flabbergasted when Thiago Silva rocked Rashad Evans and didn't pounce in for the kill. How could a fighter who so clearly needs to score a knockout in order to win the fight not throw the kitchen sink at his weakened opponent?

Well, it ends up that Silva may have been feeling the effects of back injury.

So, is this just a timely excuse or is this the real culprit to Thiago's deer in head lights finish?

Let us know what you think.

Bleh….TS wouldn’t have been able to defend the takedown anyhow. IMO, he had no problem rocking RE in the third with that bad back. IMO, the bad back is irrelevant. If he would have pressed a little more he would have got the stoppage. If anything blame his injured brain for the poor decision making he used in the third round.

I mean the back could explain why he didnt pressure Evans

I don’t think so. It could take part of the blame for his shitty takedown defense, but I don’t see how a bad back would stop you from finishing a guy when you’ve got him rocked.

Plus, the bad back didn’t prevent him from dancing around the cage like a jackass during the third round.

Personal opinion

Fighters shouldn’t discuss injuries at all. If you’ve chosen to fight injured and you talk its because you want special consideration for doing so. Either a pass because you lost or extra credit for winning injured. Both disrespect your opponent and make the sport look childish.

Fighters shouldn’t discuss injuries at all.

The counter to this is that gamblers will try to get inside information from the camp in order to gain an edge and as a result there could be bribes. That’s why a lot of leagues have mechanisms for disclosing injuries officially

Good point

So there should be a mandatory disclosure or non-disclosure? What do you guys think?
