Spike's Best of Pride with Kenda Perez

If Kenda Perez can't handle that Alligator how is she going to handle a "Cro Cop" head kick?

If Kenda Perez can't handle that Alligator how is she going to handle a "Cro Cop" head kick?

After spending a reported $70 million to purchase Pride Zuffa is finally putting that video library to use outside of more Best of Pride DVD's.

Spike will broadcast a new Pride highlight show debuting on January 15th at 10 p.m. ET/PT and will air new episodes on Fridays. The hour-long show will be hosted by Kenda Perez (pictured right).

While all you really need to know about Kenda can be seen on this video (embeded below) her official website describes her path into the industry as life-long dream:

"It was clear from the start that Kenda's path would lead her to the entertainment industry. As as a child, far from the professional lighting, makeup and sets, Kenda was creating her own photo shoots, crafting her vision from both sides of the lens"

Kenda entered Maxim's Hometown Hotties contest in 2006 and 2007, finishing fourth in 2007. But she still shills for Maxim because, "[of] Kenda's unique look, fun-loving personality, and professional attitude has led her to represent Maxim at numerous other promotional events."

Spike recently released a promo for the upcoming show.

Best of Pride

Not to rehash the old Pride vs. UFC debate but WKR does find it humorous that the promo says,

"They came from Japan. The greatest names in mixed martial arts. In some of the best fights ever! They fought in the ring with rules all their own. Turning fighters into legends. Every firday night they'll battle for glory and fight for PRIDE!

Back in 2006 who would have ever thought that Zuffa and Spike would run a commercial calling Pride fighters "legends." Hell, who would have thought that Dana White would be wearing Pride shirts in attempt to make that $70 million expenditure a little more bearable.

WKR feels like some old used up CIA agent who longs for the days of Soviet Union and the KGB. Not sure which side of the UFC-Pride debate is the KGB in that analogy...

Some more pictures of host Kenda Perez after the jump.

Why couldn’t they have made her the new Octagon Girl instead of Lafawnduh?

So much for her “unique look” though, check out a couple screen shots from the show over here, she’s got the Posh Spice hairdo now:

Surprised they put Fedor in the promo video. Maybe they’ll cut the fight short and then edit in Randleman getting his hand raised.

That would be hilariously creepy

First off it was no where $70 million and second whatever the real ammount was, it was more than worth it to basically destroy your only competition and rule the mma world.

But as far as the show it should be fun to see some of these fights again.

The Associated Press reported it as $70 million

And that number has been debunked by multiple people including Dana himself.

The Associated Press is one of, if not the, most respected news organizations in the world.

perhaps I should have put “initially reported” as oppose to simply “reported” while linking to the AP story for anyone to read
