Alistair Overeem Plans on Fighting Fedor
After Alistair Overeem 'Ubereemed' Kazuyuki Fujita's face into oblivion at Dynamite!! 2009 Overeem talked to the press (video above) where he laid out his plans for 2010.
"In March I have other obligations with K-1," Overeem said. "So I think April is a little bit too close to do such an important fight. So March, K-1 and then May-June, Fedor. That's the plan."
...
"I'm a little bit tired so first thing I'm going to take a really nice holiday," Overeem said. "I want to fight Fedor in May or June, so he's my primary target from now on. I'll be training for him and for him only."
So, March for K-1, May for Fedor and Strikeforce.
Seems reasonable.
Oh, wait a second.
Strikeforce is planning on having Fedor fight in April on CBS. Strikeforce, you know? The promotion that Overeem is technically the heavyweight champion of.
For whatever reason *cough money cough* Alistair Overeem has been less than enthusiastic about the prospect of fighting Fedor for Strikeforce. In fact Overeem has gone completely AWOL on the promotion by not fighting for Strikeforce for over two years. And when Overeem was scheduled to fight he withdrew.
While it is refreshing to hear from Alistair's own mouth that he is planning to fight Fedor WKR won't hold its breath until we see a press release in our inbox. Even then we will still have our doubts.

I'll be honest
I’m pretty sick of Overeem. If he wants to be a kickboxer, let him be a kickboxer. MMA will do just fine without him. I’m a bit skeptical he passes a drug test in the US anyway.
