MMA Weekly reports that Strikeforce is in negotiations with heavyweight Josh Barnett (24-5).
Barnett still has an appeal pending with the CSAC after testing positive for steroids this summer.

seriously? does coker have a death wish? did he not get the memo about barnett pissing hot on three different occasions, in SF’s homestate of CA no less?
Barnett just needs to get a license in California again he doesn’t face any kind of a suspension so adding someone who’s a top 5 heavyweight to your roster makes a lot of sense.
I don’t think Scott Coker would be negotiating a deal with Barnett if he didn’t believe he could obtain a license.

Wow, interesting perspective. You don’t think there would be any PR backlash by bringing in a guy that’s pissed hot on 3 different occasions? What makes you think Barnett is going to be the same fighter w/o vitamin S?
IMO, Barnett’s ranking is farce thanks to his reliance on vitamin S and questionable match making practices in Japan.
Well let’s see Tim Sylvia has as you say “pissed hot” on two different occasions but I don’t see the backlash against him so I don’t imagine there will be one for Barnett either. Aside from people in internet forums and on various message boards that will post there hate.
As far as Barnett’s ability. Steroids don’t give you a world class submission game or above average kickboxing skills. And Barnett’s opponent’s over the years in Japan have hardly been tomato can’s.

I agree. Not for any wisdom or insight, but just for the shear entertainment value. If Showtime could find a spot for Stephen Quadros there had to be a place for Bill Goldberg.
