Jay Hieron Doesn't Follow MMA News, Decides To Sign With Bellator
Former International Fight League welterweight champion Jay Hieron has agreed to an exclusive contract with Bellator Fighting Championships and will take part in the promotion’s Season 4 welterweight tournament. Terms of the deal, announced on Monday, were not disclosed.
I gotta ask, who is giving this guy career advice? Bellator? Really? Does he know Bellator's current situation? Do they even have a TV deal? I mean besides Ben Askren (who isn't really a "name") what other fights are there in Bellator that people would be interested in seeing? Lyman Good? Dan Hornbuckle? Those are two good fighters, but I mean they aren't Jon Fitch or Jake Shields. Or even Carlos Condit or Dan Hardy. So you've got better fights in the UFC, your money will be longer in the UFC, sponsorship income doubling, perhaps tripling, exposure on TV, so I can't understand Bellator. Someone help me understand.
"It’s just a great fit for me," Hieron said. "At this point in my career, I want to stay as active as possible, and the tournament format allows me to do that. It’s a great organization, and it’s just the perfect fit."
You haven't fought since January and you're 34-years old. Fighters don't normally have a wide range of years of strong earning power. I mean look at your promotional history. IFL? Gone. Affliction? Gone. Bellator? They're Simply Red status right now. I don't man, I can't cosign this.
"Jay is a fantastic signing for us at 170 pounds," Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney said in a release. "Jay is a world-class fighter with serious talent. I can’t wait to see him back on national television competing against other top fighters where he belongs. He is a spectacular addition to our upcoming Season 4 welterweight tournament."
This guy here man. Bjork.

The payday that comes along with winning the tourney and how often he fights is crucial for him considering he isnt be courted by the ufc

that assumes alot, i’ve defended Hieron for a long time but I can’t defend him anymore the guy clearly has horrible representation and it’s going to cost him again.
