When Art Imitates Reality, Pro Wrestling Does MMA

On last night's broadcast of "TNA Impact", long-time wrestler Jeff Jarrett put on what he called a "Double J, Double M-A Exposition". The storyline behind this is that he beat, with ample outside interference, Samoa Joe (who uses a style that is highly influenced by MMA) with Joe's "signature move" rear naked choke. So Jarrett, as a heel, is touting the idea that he is an "MMA expert". He decided to put on this "exhibition" to rub it in Samoa Joe's face. Jarrett also feuded with 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle whose signature move is the Ankle Lock.

I had douche chills for an hour after watching that last night. The worst part was the oh so subtle name dropping of actual fighters.

He’s really bad at it. The one and only time Jarrett has gotten over with the fans is when his wife died.

Nah. This was actually a good heel segment. The TNA fans suck at the arena

with their poor imitation of old ECW fans.

He was also a great heel in the WWF as “Ain’t I great J-A-ha ha- Double R-E-Double T” and “I beat women Double J”.

And then he married Angle’s ex-wife.

Pretty funny shit. More interesting than a lot of the other bull shit they try and pass off as pro wrestling nowadays.

i actually just happened to catch this the other night,a nd stopped to watch when he was doing the ankle lock. i liked how the guys in the background had hand wraps and such, semi-shadowboxing, like it’s real fighting….reminds me of the Southpark episode, “It’s not real wrassling!”
