Birds of A Feather: Nate Marquardt Says 'HALT! Don't Judge Chael Sonnen For Failed Steroid Test'

UFC 122 main eventer Nate "the Great" Marquardt spoke to Cagepotato's "Bum Rush Radio Show" before his fight this Saturday with Yushin Okami. He spoke about Chael Sonnen, who recently failed a PED test in California after his oh-so-close loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 117.

"Until they've seen the test results and have researched it and know what they're talking about, they should probably just [wait and] listen to what [Chael has to say]." .

If you recall Marquardt was busted for steroids after his UFN 1 fight with Ivan Salaverry and said to have taken the drug Nandrolene, aka Deca, Marquardt claimed that his failed test was a result of taking a tainted supplement. Nate's 6 month suspension was reduced to 5 months. Marquardt also stated that while Chael will be punished regardless of intent, he shouldn't be labeled a cheater if it wasn't intentional.

"I don't know. I didn't see the results of the test, so I can't even comment, to be honest. Who knows? Obviously it was a banned substance that was in his system or it was over the limit or however it was, but either way he'll be punished for having that in his system," Marquardt explains. "At the same time it doesn't mean he was trying to cheat. It could have been several things. It could have been an over-the-counter medicine or a supplement he was taking that made him test positive."

While that is a fair statement, Nate must have missed the news where Chael admitted to taking something (not a supplement) to the CSAC before the fight.

But honestly Nate, Chael has nothing to worry about. Nobody is talking about that old story, his fans will and still do love him, the "media" loves him because he gives good interview and makes good copy and Dana loves him because he drew a million above average not as great as people hoped buyrate with Silva at UFC 117.

Isn't Nate supposed to be fighting Bloodstain Lane?
