Roy Hibbert Becomes a Decent NBA Center Thanks to MMA!

One of the stories going around the NBA blogs --other than LeBron James being petulant, Cleveland being a miserable city, Dan Gilbert's vendetta, the Heat being mediocre and the partridge not really enjoying the pear tree-- is Roy Hibbert's arrival as a serviceable NBA center thanks to mixed martial arts!

Here's Hibbert talking to NBA Fanhouse about the new training regime:

"Those (MMA) guys, I feel like, are the best conditioned athletes, so three days a week, I did punching, knees, everything you see those guys do on (the Ultimate Fighting Championships), I was doing that," Hibbert said. "It got me in tip-top shape. I'd go to Fortville, Ind., drive like 40 minutes after my (basketball) workouts (in the summer) and trained there."

Hibbert's statistics are up across the board and the former Georgetown product is looking to be better investment than Greg Oden but then again dropping 20 million on a new mascot is probably a better investment then Oden.

It should be said that Roy was also diagnoised with asthma so that probably helps too but you know what? We're counting this as win for MMA! Unlike that whole Matt Leinart training mixed martial arts with Jay Glazer situation....
