2010 Blesnie Award Knockout of the Year - Gerald Harris

And the Nominees Are:

Robbie Lawler KO's Melvin Manhoef

Robbie Lawler KOs Melvin Manhoef [Strikeforce]2zxmul3

Marlon Sandro Tiger Uppercuts Masanori Kanehara

Gerald Harris Hurrislams Dave Branch into unconsciousness

34hvs4x

George Roop Kills..Rekills The Korean Zombie

George Roop Head Kick KOs Korean Zombie [WEC 51]

And the Winner is: Gerald Harris

Let's be real, this was easy. The Gerald Harris slam was so good, it made people forget that the fight up until that point was boring. It made Joe Silva jump up and shout. It was the kickoff, the opening number on the Card of the Year...uh, hominee. Not only was it a Sportscenter Play of the Day, it was a Play of the Week. Lebron James loved it. Gerald Harris' eye-popping slam made everyone scream out 'Daaaaaaaaamn" like Smokey from Friday. The only KO on here that's giving it any competition is the Lawler KO because he was getting the fire kicked out of his legs before the desperation KO, but we know Manhoef's chin is suspect at best.

Alas, the beautiful slam wasn't enough to keep him in the UFC after a poor performance at UFC 123, but at least he has the memories.

For some reason, I have a problem with considering slams as knockouts… fists, knees or legs, sure… but slams don’t require any technique other than having a strong back and facing a fighter too stupid to let go when he’s being pulled up 6ft in the air. Oh well.

Personally, I think that nothing beats a single punch KO, like the one Penn put on Hughes or like Danzig’s on Stevenson.

I like Lawler's KO.

The whole fight was great too. Comeback KO’s always do it for me…..the Gerald Harris slam was cool, but the fight was kinda boring up untill.
Also no BJ KOing Hughes in 23 seconds?????

Lawler/Manhoef

If I was gonna go for a slam I’d go for Kaufman/Roxy.

And it’s not a tiger uppercut/shoryuken unless he jumps :)

Jab, jab, towards, short, fierce.

Tiger Genocide doesn't count!

But I love that sprite, so thanks!

If Bendo's chin wasn't so strong then Pettis would've won KOTY

I personally liked Roop over Zombie as KOTY but I can’t argue too much with this.

Accustomed to mediocrity.
