The UFC may be Headed to a Theater near you

We get popcorn right?

Could the UFC be headed to a theater near you?

It seems like a distinct possibility, at least according to the Kerasotes Showplace Theatres official site:

NCM Fathom and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) are partnering for the first Event in a series of 4 UFC Events that will be showcased in theatres throughout 2010. The first Event will feature George [sic] St-Pierre vs. Dan "The Outlaw" Hardy in the ultimate welterweight fight as well as the heavyweight championship fight between titleholder Frank Mir and his opponent Shane Carwin. Two world titles will be on the line in this one night event LIVE from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Watching a live UFC event in a crowded theater filled with like minded fans sounds like a wonderful idea. Basically the  18-34 male equivalent of seeing a Twilight movie for 10-18 females or going to the Rocky Horror Picture Show for, well, you get the idea.

But there is a catch. You probably can't bring alcohol to the theater (psst it's called a flask). Also, there are only 95 locations:

We are one of the industry's premier motion picture exhibition companies. Our theatres are located primarily in the Midwestern and upper Midwestern regions of the United States, including Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Missouri, Minnesota and Wisconsin. We currently have 957 screens in 95 locations - with more on the way!

Also, the press clipping stated "a series of 4 UFC Events." Does that mean UFC 112, 113 or 114 will be featured too?

Update: The company providing the content to Kerasotes Showplace Theatres is NCM Fathom. While NCM Fathom has a larger reach then Kerasotes WKR has no information as of this time regarding other theater chains providing this service.

Beerbelly

If the flask isnt how you like to roll try the beerbelly. One of the best inventions of the day for those of us who like to drink beer where its not available or way too expensive (most every sporting event).

Nothing for NYC

I would love to go to a UFC in theater setting. Its the best of both worlds: Yelling imbeciles and good viewing angles!

I think this is a good move if the tickest are around 10 dollars . If they are around 20 dollars it will not be worth it. If u and a friend go , it will cost around $40 dollars for the two of u .Why not stay home in the comfort of ur home for that price.

Also think it is good for the High school and college kids who are too young to get into bars and arent able to purchace ufc events at home.

UFC signed with NCM Fathom

The UFC signed a deal with NCM Fathom not Kerasotes Theaters. Kerasotes Theaters is just one of the many theaters Fathom can make deals with. I fully expect this event to be in way more than 95 theaters.

According to Fathom’s website: “Fathom has access to nearly 14,500 screens and over 1,300 theatres in 47 states”
