Rolles Gracie Cut by the UFC

Rolles Gracie (3-1) is the latest fighter to be served their walking papers following a disappointing performance at UFC 109.

Gracie was a highly thought of heavyweight prospect but completely gave up in his fight against Joey Beltran. It was so bad that Renzo Gracie said,

"It was embarrassing. I can tell you he wasn't in that bad of shape. Fact is the nerves drained him of his energy. His stand up and ground work looked bad, nothing at all like he was doing in training leading up to the fight and it was if he couldn't hear what I was telling him. I think the pressure he put on himself overwhelmed him. He'll learn and be back."

What makes Rolles' performance even more disappointing, Beltran was a last minute replacement.

WKR pointed out there were a lot of disappointing performances at UFC 109 and the body count certainly backs up that conclusion.

Update: Renzo Gracie tweeted that,

Rolles had a X-ray done yesterday, broken foot was the diagnose, so the man has been training for over two weeks with a broken foot

henzo tweeted (twittered?) today that tests showed he was training and fought on a broken ankle for whatever that is worth.

Well that definitely sucks.

If I understand right, he couldn’t get in top shape because he had a broken foot for the 2 weeks prior to the fight. So he gives it his best shot and fails miserably.

If that’s the truth then one part of me loves the guy for being bad-ass enough to fight anyway. The other part of me says he blew it and who knows if he’ll ever get a second chance (in the UFC).

The third part of me (yes, my name is Eve :)) questions whether to believe Renzo…

Man, don’t really know the facts as to why he gassed or have I seened the fight, but that must be a "disgrace.:

Blah blah blah

The only reason he got signed was because it was part of the deal with Renzo signing up to get the crap kicked out of him by Hughes
