Dana White thinks your criticisms are due to you being spoiled

Cage Writer brings us this little sound bite gem from Dana White after UFC 109.

"UFC fans are spoiled...There's gonna be the people that always bitch and I say what I always say, 'don't buy it!.' If you don't like the f***ing card don't buy it. I don't give a s***! You know what I mean? People who are real fight fans and want to sit home on Saturday night and watch fights will watch it. Nobody is f***ing making you  buy fights and  watch the pay-per view. Buy the ones you want to buy and the ones you  you don't want to buy, watch f***ing American Idol. I could care less! "

So, are we spoiled and get too many awesome fights and can't appreciate the good ones? Or is Dana blind to fair criticisms like the juxtaposition of a main event fighter being cut after the card you were just trying to sell?

Not for nothing there are a bunch of whining, complaining fans. I understand criticizing some cards but I think some people just go over the top.

Note, I never understood the whole “Too many cards may ruin the UFC brand,” point of view or not enough star power or meaningful fights on some cards. Some time will get so-so cards like UFC 78 Validation but then there are great cards like UFC 108 Evans vs. Silva.

We have a choice, pay the PPV, watch it at a bar or (cough watch an online feed cough) but the complaints can be a little over the top.

Do fans notice how often boxing is able to produce great championship fights or even regular great fights? If people think that the UFC HW division has issues they should see what happened to the American heavyweight division in boxing.

yeah yeah yeah . . .

Amen.

Exactly how I feel. I will say that I could care less that Coleman got cut after a main event fight. It was a fun fight to watch and if you thought the fight would be any different and if you didn’t have an inkling that Coleman could be cut after the fight you just don’t pay much attention to things.

really..........

i cant stand Dana. and for someone who has a lazy lower lip, he sure does talk out of both sides of his mouth.

he may be the reason why mixed martial arts is where it’s at. he is also the reason why it’s no further ahead then where it’s at. It’s not the cards he is making, its just him. He’s off putting, he is in the spotlight way too much, and he lies

Dana has a point.

We are getting more UFC than ever. We are being spoiled. Its to the point that fans EXPECT everything for free.

its not about money. its about quality.

Everyone is expecting each UFC to be like UFC 100. People are expecting free prelims when they had to pay for them previously. People are expecting free PPVs when the main event wasnt that strong.

We had TUF finalist headline their own finale. Now we demand that we are given headlining fights on the finales as well.

We have weekly shows, seasonal specials, more free UFN’s and PPV replays on cable TV. Yet we demand more and the UFC still delivers.

Its likely an a result of an influx of fans that did not follow the UFC because it was banned in their state and now think that the abundance of events is something that has always been the norm. Knowing how the UFC was before TUF, I come to appreciate all these events

you couldn’t be wrong.

this doens’t make any sense but yea, people would like a much strong main event than couture vs coleman for 44.95.

We had TUF finalist headline their own finale. Now we demand that we are given headlining fights on the finales as well.

no idea what you’re saying here.

Yet we demand more and the UFC still delivers.

the demand is, again, for quality main events for the money.

Its likely an a result of an influx of fans that did not follow the UFC because it was banned in their state and now think that the abundance of events is something that has always been the norm. Knowing how the UFC was before TUF, I come to appreciate all these events

i dont get what the states bans have to do with anything. mma hasn’t been legal in PA for more than a year but ive been watching mma since ufc 1.

i appreciate the events too. i appreciate the ones that are worth the money even more.

Considering the card was stacked on paper, how could I be more wrong about UFC 100?

There have been major complaints about almost every UFC PPV headliner. Especially since UFC 108, when you have top 5 LHWs fighting each other. Despite the fact that most if not all cards prior to this that did not have a title fight headlining it had similar main events (Silva/Franklin, Bisping/Leben, Franklin/Henderson, Rampage/Jardine, Nog/Randy, Franklin/Belfort, and the upcoming Nog/Cain)

As with the TUF comment, if you watched the TUF events since their inception you would know that the card was mostly filled with all TUF fighters. Now they are filled with the finalist fights along with a headlining UFC fight (Sanchez/Guida) and feature fights like Veach/Edgar on the undercard.

you said everyone is expecting cards to be like ufc 100. you’re very wrong because nobody does expect that every card.

Silva/Franklin, Bisping/Leben, Franklin/Henderson, Rampage/Jardine, Nog/Randy, Franklin/Belfort, and the upcoming Nog/Cain

all not so great headliners, the criticism is just. bisping and leban? nobody in their right mind can defend that as a headliner, no matter where the fight took place or if it was free

i still dont see what this has to do with anything.

what I have learned from this exchage

is Sonofapysco is a new ufc fan without perspective, and shouldn’t argue things on this blog.

love how he says the ufc fans are best in the world over and over in his dopey blogs and then talks shit about them when they complain they get garbage main event ppvs.

Dana’s mostly right. He said they can’t all be megafights. And somebody is watching/buying – otherwise they would be losing money and not doing as many.

But I got no beef with how he approached this.

Don’t like it? Don’t fucking buy it.

Dana White is a character

He talks just as much crap as Tito Ortiz and even Chael Sonnen. Keep in mind, he wasn’t upset that Lesnar cursed out the fans, but the huge corporate sponsor. At the end of the day, I’m checking out the end-product. While some of their quips may be entertaining, offensive and maybe delusional . . .

  • Fedor isn’t the top HW, He sucks
  • Randy is a top 5 LHW
  • THIS SEASON IS GOING TO BE AWESOME —TUF 10

. . . the end product is usually good with the exception of some TUF and Tito’s recent performances in the cage.

yeah yeah yeah . . .

we only have 2.8 million people in nevada.

2009 was the first year in 25 years that nevada lost population. i say move here and you too can watch for free(the ufc events) at the grand sierra resort hotel, cal neva casino, montbleu in lake tahoe and the lakeside inn in lake tahoe. those are the northern nevada places you can watch all the ufc events for free. sorry dana i just trying to help my fellow mma fans out.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. I was building a house, I don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. Bang. "Unforgiven" I drink your milkshake. I drink it up! "There Will BE Blood"

Dana is right, i’ve been saying this for awhile now it appears that some mma fans truly are spoiled and have no idea how lucky they are to be getting the quality of mma we are getting now. Zuffa not only gives up ppv’s every month but Fight Night’s, TUF, Unleashed, PPV Replay’s, and more for free. The idea that people aren’t getting more than they’re money’s worth in exchange for supporting the UFC is crazy to me. I guess that’s part of the reason why I don’t mind paying for less than stacked cards because I know that the whenever possible the UFC will try and make the biggest and best fights possible and that’s all that I want from my favorite sport.
