BAMMA 2 - New Champions, showcasing British MMA
It is safe to say that the biggest and most established market in the industry is North America and as we reported yesterday the UFC is moving in to different different markets. Good thing or not? well I have my own opinion on the matter but its an open issue right now.
Paul Daley Mike Bisping and Dan Hardy have all made the move into the American market and are now considerably big names. Its interesting how there is a lot of British names in the top tiers of the UFC. If not already a number one contender, each is 1 or 2 fights away until they get that shot.
The conclusion I can draw from this is, that the British MMA industry has some of the best talent out there right now and this is shown by BAMMA - British Association of Mixed Martial Arts A relatively new promotion that is over this side of the pond. They have only held 2 events so far but they already have a television deal with Bravo (Reminds my of Spike) I will also point out that before the UFC got big in the UK they were on Bravo and Strikeforce is currently on Bravo, the events being broadcast a day later.
So all of this looks positive for the new promotion, their most recent event was held on 13. Feb, BAMMA: 2, as you would expect they are still establishing champions and that is what they did with this event. The first was to establish the contenders.

The most well known name is the Alex Reid, you may know him as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother 2010 or the current husband of Jordan, after a trip to Las Vegas none the less. Despite being famous generally, by association on a MMA front he gives the sport a bad image because of his public life and his record is nothing to shout about being defeated on his last 6 outings.
Alex Reid is fighting in the main event of the next BAMMA event in May
In my view, despite Reid this promotion is the next big thing in British MMA and you could see some great new talent. For our British readers, the event will be broadcast exclusively on Bravo 21. Feb
