UFC and Rampage in Legal Dispute

"It's all about that G.T.A."

Remember back in 2009 when Quinton "Rampage" Jackson pulled out of his fight with Rashad Evans at UFC 107 At the time Jackson went off to start shooting for the new A-Team movie while Dana White attacked Rampage for giving up "millions of dollars to play Mr. T". Jackson responded by posting a long message on his website saying he was "done fighting" and "hanging it up".

Michael Rome reports that the UFC took legal action against Rampage after his perceived  retirement.

Seemingly slipping past everyone's notice, on November 3, 2009, the UFC filed a lawsuit against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson seeking declaratory relief on Jackson's contract in a Las Vegas courtroom.  The complaint details the dispute with Jackson over his decision to pull out of UFC 107, as well as the communications between Jackson's management and the UFC.

For those who don't feel like deciphering legal speak Rome breaks it down further

To boil the dispute down to simpler terms, the issue is Jackson's current contract and when it ends.  Jackson wants his period away from the UFC to count towards his contractual term; the UFC is arguing that since he retired they were able to properly suspend the term for that period.

So, Rampage wants to renegotiate his contract or in other words he wants more money. For some reason fighter pay has been an issue lately...
