Cro Cop Earns the Win via Stoppage

Photo

Mirko Cro Cop did what he had to do, stopping Anthony Perosh thanks to a nasty cut and a whole lot of blood.

Before addressing the Croatian's victory, a quick round of applause for Perosh, who took the fight on short notice and continued when handed an easy out as the doctors and referee Herb Dean checked the massive cut created by Cro Cop's left elbow.

In dire need of a win, Cro Cop came out and scored the victory he very much needed, and just about everyone knew he would earn. But how much does it really do to change things?

While the Pride legend stalked Perosh from the opening bell and looked dominant, how much could have been expected of the 11th hour replacement? A win is always good, but this doesn't really answer any of the questions that continue to loom over the career of Mirko Cro Cop.

Would he have fared as well against original opponent Ben Rothwell? Who does he square off with next? Is there really something left in the former head kick assassin or was tonight a quality performance against an over-matched opponent who honorably stepped up at the last minute?

On a side note, somewhere Zak Woods is smiling. It may not have been a head kick finish, but Cro Cop got himself a win.
