Wanderlei Silva Earns Unanimous Decision

Photo

In a tough back-and-forth battle, Wanderlei Silva used a final round flurry at the close of the third round to put Michael Bisping on his backside and pull out a 29-28 victory, his first at 185 and one that was very much needed.

Much like he's said about Stephan Bonnar, Dana White assured everyone that Wanderlei wouldn't be going anywhere regardless of the outcome, but this win takes any questions off the table entirely.

Looking kinda creepy after all his facial surgery, and good and lean at 185, Silva seemed to wait for the end of each round to unleash a final flurry to close each round. While the rushes at the end of rounds one and two were solid, the push to end the third left no doubt that "The Axe Murderer" was walking away with the win.

For Bisping, it's back to the drawing board for the second time in three fights. Each time he's stepped up to face a big name opponent, Bisping has been beaten; Rashad Evans, Dan Henderson and now Wanderlei Silva have gotten the best of "The Count" when the spotlight was on.

While he looked solid in this bout, Bisping continues to underwhelm me, reminding me of Mike Swick; good at everything, great at nothing and ultimately, those fighters will always have a job, but never be a champion.

Wanderlei may not ever get back to being the dominant "Axe Murderer" of old, but he looked better tonight than he has before in the UFC.

If the rumors of a bout with Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 115 in Vancouver prove to be true, I'll be one happy Vancouver Island resident.

On to the main event...

Wandy is turning into a cautious fighter, which is probably good if he want to get get a shot at the tittle, but things just won’t be the same anymore. I hope not and I hope the WANDY vs SEXYAMA will have a different outcome as Sexyama is no wanker.

Bisping’s still the same wanker as always. He turns into kalib, florian, or houston when he’s not fighting people who he knows would kO him. He’s using takedowns to score points without even causing damage. Bisping is a future boring wanker of a gatekeeper if he isn’t one already. Also, I’ll doubt the UFC will cut him if he gets another straight loss or two as he’s the UFC Brit cash cow.
