Congratulations Alabama, you've just passed MMA legislation!

The recently passed bill will change the Alabama Boxing Commission to the Alabama Athletic Commission, which will oversee pro and amateur MMA events.

Now the question is whether this will change the perception of Alabama as a "freak fight" destination for promoters who were unable to secure sanctioning from state athletic commissions. Don't believe us? Here are some well known MMA fights that took place in 'Bama:

While a lot of "freak fights" happened in Alabama there are still four states (New York, Connecticut, West Virginia and Vermont)  with athletic commissions that have yet to pass a bill for MMA regulation.
