Around SBN: VIDEO: Austin Rivers' Buzzer Beater Finishes Off UNC

Rampage Jackson thought he was going to fight Machida after TUF 10--huh?

"I AM IN LOVE WITH ACTING OPRAH!"

Today's crazy comment goes to Rampage Jackson (video after the jump):

"They've said some things and done some things I don't agree with -- that's not the way I do business," Jackson said. "I'm a loyal person so I take care of people who take care of me, but people who don't take care of me, I don't take care of them. So I'm done with the UFC. They can't ask me for anymore favors. Nothing. I just want to finish my contract and get out of there, do my own thing. Dana lied to me. He told me I didn't have to fight Rashad, I could fight Machida. I did the show and then after that he told me I had to fight Rashad."

Jackson made these comments to Fighter's Only (transcript via MDS and MMA Fighting).

Just to make sure WKR has this straight: according to Rampage, he didn't want to fight Rashad heading into tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter despite the fact that the potential fight existed since January 2009. Not to mention the memorable staredown immediately after UFC 96.

Right?

Okay.....

Most likely this is just more chatter bubbling up from the ongoing dispute between Jackson and Zuffa.

If I recall correctly he’s the one that wanted to do TUF with Rashad and fight him after because he knew being on spike would increase his profile. There are several Rampage quotes out there that supports he wanted Rashad on TUF and didn’t want to face Machida.

You can’t go out and say these things when you are ON TAPE as saying you’d rather fight Rashad.

I hate entitled assholes like Rampage. “The world owes me! The UFC owes me! My career owes me!” Ugh.

I’ve seen of the B movies that he was in he’s a terrible actor and most of his roles have limited lines. Similar to the roles Arnold had when he first started, but unlike arnold I’ll doubt he will be as big of a movie star as him. Quite frankly, I don’t care, he’ll always be known well in a lot of people’s eyes as the man dangling from the ropes after a big Wandy knee and his revenge KO over Wandy can’t compare.

Also, after the UFC stuck by him after his brief psychotic episode that may have been the cause of the death an unborn child.

What an idiot

Like they would ever let him fight anyone but Rashad first. They need to capitalize on an entire season’s worth of shows. That’s the only reason he’s even around.

If he was offered the Machida fight but passed on it… then that’s on him. If Rampage had wanted to fight Machida instead I’m sure they would have held off on the “Rampage vs. Rashad” theme until a later TUF season.

I doubt that he could have plausibly used an injury excuse to pass on a title fight, considering that Machida got the title shot in the first place because of Rampage’s injury plus Mir’s condition by UFC 98, whereas Rampage would have had time to heal up before getting his title shot.
