MMA Payout believes these ratings are encouraging and points out that UFC 110 was the second highest rated program on sports channels (though they were walloped by the Olympics).
It all depends on how the data is cut and where the goal posts are. If the goal is to do well against other sports channels while ignoring the Olympics as a four year anomaly and bracing for expansion difficulties, such as a negative local media environment, then the data is encouraging. Once the live gate response is taken into account, it appears that Zuffa had a successful trip "down under".

I thought the rating would be much higher, being it was on free tv.
Dear Zak that is why i love this site so much, u show more international news about how the ufc then any other site. I love to see how the ufc is being percieved in other countries. I belive the ufc is really going to take off in Asia soon , and I am always trying to find news of that nature., I also love this site, cuz u show alot of girls in ur pics., lol i love that
Timing
A niche sport screened between 11am and 2pm depending on location can hardly be expected to compete with prime time programs that appeal to the old and the boring.
Still, that number is a little dissapointing.
Anecdotally, there were plenty of people in the pub where I watched it and I’ve talked to many people who saw it but my social circle skews that way.
do u think it was a little early in the day?
Is that why the numbers are low., Or do u think the most of the sport fans were watching the olylpics? I think they should have had a free replay at night.
Its probably a combination of day time broadcast on a sunday, middle of the Olympics and it being new to Australia.

Or do u smell conspsiracy? lol It sounds to me like Austalia has about 17,000 hardcore fans and they all showed up at the arena. When i heard they had the second fastest sellout ever, i figured the whole country was going to be into it. Them numbers are really bad IMO . The United states probaly trippled them numbers in ppv sales alone. Would be intertesting to see what a prime time slot would do.
You have to remember that One is a digital only station (focussed purely on sport) so only people with HD TVs and digital set-top boxes could watch it. However, it’s still depressing that it got beaten by Bewitched and The Big Bang Theory (GO is another digital-only station)
If UFC 110 was the highest rated event on the channel, One would probably see it as a success.
