Diego Sanchez's Return to 170lbs; plus more Matchmaking News
Diego Sanchez's rumored return to the welterweight division is a go. Sanchez (21-3), will fight John Hathaway (12-0) at UFC 114 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Diego left the welterweight division in early 2009 and won his first two bouts at 155lbs. earning a title shot against B.J. Penn at UFC 107. That title fight didn't go exactly to plan for "The Nightmare" as he was manhandled by Penn on way to a TKO loss.
In the aftermath of the lopsided loss Sanchez publicly voiced his desire to return to the welterweight division.
While a return to 170lbs. will certainly make Diego's diet more enjoyable, the whole reason Sanchez left was due to his inability to beat top-five welterweight fighters. Diego has long stated that his goal is to become a champion but WKR isn't sure that there is clear path to a title shot.

Glad to see the nightmare back i action, I don’t know who that other guy is, but I hope sanchez doesn’t get careless. Als the the big belly nelson fight should be good, you have a short fat guy angainst a tall skinny guy. It should be interesting.
