Mac Danzig Realizes his UFC Career is on the line, Plus he is not a fan of Las Vegas
Mac Danzig's UFC career hasn't exactly been a blockbuster. On this week's Cage Cast WKR discussed how Danzig may be one of the biggest busts to come out of The Ultimate Fighter. Mac won the sixth season by defeating Tommy Speer (he is no longer in the UFC), which he followed up with a victory over Mark Bocek. After this brief initial success Danzig dropped three in a row and many observers have dismissed him as a non-factor.
Talking to MMA Junkie, Danzig realizes that he may be facing the end in his fight with Justin Buchholz.
"Regardless of me having a string of losses, and how the UFC treats people who have a string of losses, I really feel that if I don't beat this guy, I don't belong in the UFC," Danzig said. "This is going to be the deal-breaker for me. Am I still good enough to still compete at this level of the sport and still have that fighting spirit? I feel I do."
Mac always appeared to speak the unadulterated truth during his time on The Ultimate Fighter. That's why it came as no surprise when Danzig blasted Las Vegas:
"[Vegas is] completely devoid of culture. There's really nothing to do outside of training and fighting. Some of these other guys that I train with, they're great people, but they are content with training and then coming home and playing Xbox. That's just not me.
Unless you party or go to clubs on the Strip, there's nothing to do in the city. You either gamble and smoke cigarettes and work a blue-collar job, or I don't know what you do. The only advantage was it was in close vicinity to some national parks, and I say close as in not as far as LA."
Sounds like Mac doesn't like Elvis impersonators...
