Dana White wants you to know that Tito Ortiz is a liar
The hype for the eleventh season of The Ultimate Fighter and the subsequent match-up between rival coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz is already building.
It is not like the third meeting between two popular former UFC light heavyweight champions needs any help but Tito Ortiz and Dana White are doing their best.
At the TUF 11 media day Ortiz told the media that Liddell was an alcoholic and that Dana White gave him an intervention. Dana White responded by telling the media that Ortiz is speaking with a forked tongue (this is so 2007, aw--memories!):
It's not true. I never stepped in and had an intervention for Chuck Liddell, and he never went to rehab or anything like that. Tito says some crazy stuff sometimes, you know? Chuck Liddell is not drinking. He stopped drinking to get ready for this fight.
Chuck hates Tito. He doesn't understand why I brought him back. He doesn't think he belongs here.
Cagepotato already pointed this out but we will do the same. For White to say that Liddell has stoped drinking is sort of an implicit admission that Chuck was hitting the bottle. Not to the point of a Lifetime movie but certainly enough to warrant mentioning that he quit.
For Ortiz to call Liddell and alcoholic is a bit over the top. But the dude does likes to party...(see below video)
Liddell vs. Ortiz III was also confirmed for UFC 115 in Vancouver this June.

I think the difference between athletes that stay clean compared to the guys who stop partying hard before they begin a training camp reveals a whole lot.
There’s a big difference between athletes like Machida, GSP, Randy Couture, Herschel Walker, Anderson Silva, and Bernard Hopkins compared to athletes like Rampage*, Liddell, and the old Penn.

Dana is full of it.
Liddell is passing out during interviews, seen coked out of his gord or drunk at every event, and this corresponds directly with Liddell going from the most bad ass striker in history to an old man asleep on the canvas?
Dana probably made being clean and sober a specific stipulation of him coming back. He does seem to care about him after all.
