Dana White thinks the end is nigh for Mark Coleman

It was fun while it lasted

It was fun while it lasted

During the post-fight press conference UFC president, Dana White, was asked about Mark Coleman's future. White responded by saying,

"I think tonight was probably Coleman's last fight in the UFC. I just think he'll have a hard time competing with the guys at the top of the level. Age is a factor with him."

Wait a second.

Thanks to Tito Ortiz's smack talk Coleman already has another fight.

Ortiz fights Chuck Liddell in June but if Tito loses to Chuck (for the third time) he will be 0-2 since returning to the UFC. Would Zuffa really pass up on the promoting gold that Ortiz and Coleman gave them? Besides, these two were suppose to meet at UFC 106.

If Coleman’s gonna have a hard time competing at this level what does that say about Stephan Bonnar? I doubt anyone had the stones to ask Dana that follow up question.

Tito’s good for rubbing salt into the wound and when he was asked what he shouted at Coleman to set him off.
His answer was quite different then the quote above but it’s not like Tito is above stretching the truth.

My guess is he’s trying to set up a future win in the UFC after his third loss to Liddell this summer.

For as dumb as he sounds when he speaks the wheels are always turning in his head coming up with ways to stay relevant.

He campaigned for a stint coaching against Forrest in TUF 11 immediately after he lost, and ended up getting a coaching gig albeit against Chuck.

But his face will be on TV week after week for millions of viewers. Then the build up will lead to a big PPV IMO.
Then if he loses (which is likely) I will not be surprised but will expect Zuffa to wheel out Coleman playing on this drama to ensure a Tito win for the future.

Due to the TUF 1 Finale Bonnar will always have a home, maybe not a high paying home or a highly competitive home but a home.

Man, randy looked like a top level striker against coleman, reminded me of bj vs sanchez although, coleman looked like shit against randy. I got to give it to randy on the stiking though, he’s gotten better or it could just be that coleman’s just has wrestling and gnp. Lastly, I really hope randy doesn’t get a shot at the tittle shot ‘cause that would be bull. He’s only beaten vera via contreversial decision and who’s also not a top ten guy and coleman probably not even on the map, but he’s a draw and will get what he wants. Still sucks if he does tho.
