Surprise! Anderson Silva's Manager wants Chael Sonnen to fight Demian Maia
You can almost set your clock to Ed Soares coming out after a middleweight number one contender fight to say, "thanks, but maybe he should fight someone else first."
It happened after Dan Henderson beat Michael Bisping. It happened after Nate Marquardt beat Demian Maia. It happened after Vitor Belfort beat Rich Franklin. And now it has happened after Chael Sonnen beat Nate Marquardt.
Ed Soares told Joe Ferraro that Sonnen should fight Maia first:
"We are fine if this is what the UFC wants, but if you look at this logistically, Sonnen should fight Demian Maia first. Demian beat up easily, by submission, so why not make them fight first, to determine who gets a shot at the title?"
First of all, Dana White explicitly stated that this fight was for the right to fight the winner of Silva vs. Belfort. So, it doesn't matter what Soares thinks.
While it is true that Sonnen lost to Maia; Demian was knocked out by Marquardt who Sonnen just defeated. Maybe this concept is beyond Soares so we will break this down in soccer terms; it's like a round robin in the first round of the World Cup. Get it now?
The juxtaposition of this statement from Soares, after Sonnen's previous comments, including this statement, "it will be a verbal beating; Anderson Silva will be in tears" makes it extremely difficult to not view Silva's camp as picky.
If this trend continues from Silva maybe the guy should just move up in weight and wreak havoc on the light heavyweight division.

He said they’ll do the fight if the UFC wants.
Nothing wrong with throwing his two bob in about the current title picture is there?
And then if Maia beats Sonnen again Soares would say well Marquardt beat him so easily they should fight again to determine the number 1 contender.
Soares comment makes no sense. Sonnen has beat two top 5 caliber middleweights in a row and beat a quality fighter in Dan Miller before that.
He’s a clear number 1 contender. Much more than Belfort the guy Silva is fighting next.

Ahh, I see
So Anderson Silva should fight Okami again since Okami beat him, right? He didn’t deserve his title shot otherwise. Logistically speaking.

Ed Soares pisses me off. I really hope Anderson has no idea what’s going on (although that would be contrary to what Sonnen has previously said about Anderson being fluent) and Soares is just being a dick because he knows he has the best fighter on the planet and can afford to be a dick.
It happened after Dan Henderson beat Michael Bisping. It happened after Nate Marquardt beat Demian Maia. It happened after Vitor Belfort beat Rich Franklin. And now it has happened after Chael Sonnen beat Nate Marquardt.
This is fucking retarded. So because Damian (who I love, don’t get me wrong, he’s like a modern day Royce) beat Chael like a year and a half ago (it would be by the time they fought), he deserves a title shot after getting KTFO’d by the guy Chael just completely dominated? Does this just plain not make any sense to anyone else? We don’t see BJ (or his brother, or mom, or Marinovich, or whomever) saying that Gray and Edgar should fight again. I’ve just had enough. Truthfully I hope Shogun knocks Lyoto out cold so Anderson would feel justified in moving to LHW.

or, conversely
I hope Belfort destroys Silva

Ok, we’re not surprised that Soares made this statement. We get it, a little re-direction, misdirection or whatever in order to get your client a bigger and better fight.
We already know how Anderson feels about facing other Brazilians. He wasn’t too crazy about facing the younger Thales Leites because he’s cool with his camp and stuff. Not crazy about facing Belfort and will begrudgingly do so in May. I know Soares statements are unnecessary and sounds a little bit whiny but why does it piss off so many fans? I don’t get it.
Dana White usually makes crazy claims like Couture is Top 5 LHW or rescind promised title shots and stuff like that but . . . I know its coming. It is more or less his job, his modus operandi.
yeah yeah yeah . . .
Does Anderson Silva Want to Fight Anybody?

Well when you’re the manager of the best P4P fighter in the world and other high caliber fighters he can pretty much say whatever he wants and considering that Silva’s dana’s anti-fedor propaganda. Dana might just do whatever they want to keep him happy, although, this is were what Chael said about silva comes in. Is it soares saying this or is it silva?
I’m a fan of silva regardless, cause unlike a certain UFC champ (cough, cough gsp) silva has actually moved up a weight class. Also, he even wants(ed) to go up to HW to fight Mir. I guess it was to avenge his Big Nog’s (manager’s Soares) loss.
