A Reason to watch UFC 111 at the Theater
When WKR first heard about the possibility of viewing a UFC pay-per view in a crowded theater of like minded fans we thought this would be a great moment to dust off the old flask and act like a freshmen in college again.
But the Gal's Guide pointed out the potential flaw in this plan:
The UFC has announced that they're partnering with Fathom Events to show UFC 111 at movie theaters across the country. Sounds potentially interesting, right? Well I just checked, and tickets are twenty five #@*!% dollars plus a service fee! Holy crap, kids. That is one expensive movie theater experience. Do they charge extra for the sticky floors and broken seats? I just don't see how this is going to work out. I mean, you're probably not going to go by yourself, right? So for two people you're looking at over $50. Why the hell wouldn't you just get the PPV?
It seems that the UFC has heard the cries of, "why in the hell do I want to spend that much money to hear someone say, ‘don't go into the bathroom, the killer is in there!'?"
Instead the promotion will hold several "viewing parties" with fighters, which might be a good reason to spend the extra cash to go watch it in a theater. That and the popcorn.

I dunno
Maybe there are some minnesotans out there who’d like to roleplay Gabe Gonzaga and kick Chrissie T in the jehosephats.

I think it might be good for some teens and college student wwho dont have acces to ppvs., or there paretns wont let them order this at home. But i think alot of couples might take to this, Alot of couples just stay home and watch it by themselves, this might be a good way to get out of the house and do something different for a change, Especially if u dont have hi-def or a bigger flat screen yet..
see, you go to the bar in this case then after the fights you go to another bar. Not like I am speaking from personal experience…

Yeah, I guess it works for those who are too young to get into a bar. Or those who don’t like bars and have no friends to split the PPV with.
For the rest of us, I don’t think I’m alone when I say I’m not paying $25 plus massively overpriced pop and popcorn just to see it on a huge screen, instead of going to a bar for free and drinking beer and eating nachos and wings and such.
Maybe if it was the same price as a movie I’d think about checking it out once, but at $25 it’s a fucking ripoff. I predict this experiment will fail miserably.
15 bucks would be a good price point....
lets hope they figure that out after this go-around…..
La naiba cu Monkey Rally !!!!!
I really don’t see the point of going to a theater at that price. For $55, I can watch it from the comfort of my own home on my 55" LED TV that looks a lot better than a movie screen. Plus, I can DVR it and watch it over and over again. Why pay $25, plus an unknown service charge that could be another $5. Plus popcorn and a drink, which will probably set you back another $20, at this point. If you want some JuJu Beads, you might as well take out a second mortgage.
Seriously, it’s a step above a bar, but unless you don’t have PPV or have a really shitty TV, I can’t see this being an economical way to spend your fight budget.
