UFC vs. Strikeforce won't be going down in Nashville

Ufc-counter-sf_medium

Zuffa will not counter program Strikeforce's April 17th card.

So much for the UFC using the Vince McMahon playbook.

Why did the UFC opt to pass on a counter when early reports suggested that the promotion was preparing to hold an event not just on the same day but in the same city? It could have been due to the short notice (just six weeks) or the lack of main event fighters. Perhaps they didn't want Strikeforce to go head-to-head with WEC 48 or perhaps they were worried about CBS promoting the card through the NCAA tourney. In the end it ended up being a rumor that got us all talking.

But with the UFC opting on not holding a live event doesn't mean they won't counter broadcast. WKR would be more than willing to bet that Spike will show a UFC 110 replay during CBS' broadcast.
