Overeem vs. Rogers will be for the Strikeforce Heavyweight Title

Rogers-overeem_medium

Stock your basement with canned food, bottled water and bullets because the second sign of the MMA apocalypse is upon us! Alistair Overeem will defend his Strikeforce heavyweight title  against Brett Rogers..

Overeem vs. Rogers will headline Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery, on May 15th in St. Louis, Missouri. . The fight marks the first time that Alistair has defended his heavyweight title since winning it in 2007 against Paul Buentello. It will also be the first time that Overeem will fight in the States since that fight.

As Brett Rogers last fight was a loss some fans will undoubtedly cry foul about his status as number one contender. Though WKR would like to point out that Strikeforce was trying to make this fight happen before they had even signed Fedor.

this is going to be good not ‘cause it’s the first time we’ll get to see overeem fight a “legitimate” hw in a long time, or ‘cause it’s for the SF HW belt (who cares?), or ‘cause the fight’s not going the distance, but because of what happens after the fight and the mandatory piss/durg/roids test for championship fights if I’m not mistaken. The betting line’s going to be ridiculous to bet whether overeem’s going to pop possitive for roids. I’m going against all odds and bet a hundred that he doesn’t pop.

I sent to commission an email. They told me it is all random. No mandatory.

Good lookin’, I remember reading that though, but can’t recall if it was a ufc article or a post from a member. It must’ve just been a comment. So, regardless of the state, type of fight i.e. championship fight, or organization, it’s all random and not mandatory. Thanks for clearing that up.

To be honest I think I wrote that as I was under the impression that was the case for all commissions. But I threw up a amendment once the commission got back to me
