Kenny Florian Handles Takanori Gomi

Gomi_medium_medium
The UFC version of Takanori Gomi is a lot like the Sengoku version of Gomi and the results are still disappointing for a fighter that was once considered to be a top lightweight fighter in the world.

Kenny Florian effortless jabbed his way to a third round submission victory. While that may seem like an oxymoron Florian landed his right jab for the first two rounds, completely throwing off Gomi's game as the former Pride lightweight champion became more desperate, throwing wild, looping punches.

The third round saw Florian switch gears as he took Takanori down and submitted him.

Now I know why

everybody was saying this isn’t the “old” Gomi anymore. He couldn’t do shit, but that probably had a lot to do w/ KenFlo.

Hadoken!!

except that even the “old” Gomi got taken down and chocked out, people might have to realise that the guy had holes in his game that eventually got exposed to certain fighter.

I’m a big Florian fan, but I’m still sad to see Gomi lose. I was hoping to see the good ol’ Fireball Kid!

DISSAPOINTED, but as expected

Man, gomi sure hasn’t been looking good lately and well probably never will, so it was was almost predictable that florian would get the W. However, I liked when gomi rokced florain and then florian decided to take it to the ground ‘cause he knew he would get KTFO if he continued, that’s the reason why I hate this guy.

Gomi is becoming the Japanese version of Lil Evil.

Bring him in and get the old school fans juiced up, then getting completely outclassed by the new blood. This is a good way to sell the new blood to the old school. This strategy has worked out well for WEC, Pulver vs Urijah was one of the best rated cards in Wec history. If Gomi is run out of UFC, maybe Zuffa can throw him into the WEC and use him to build WEC’s upcoming talent. Say what you want but, I watched last night, hoping to see the Gomi of old. I did it with Mark Coleman, Jens Pulver and others.

If Russia attacked Turkey from the rear, Do you think Greece would help?

I think Gomi's not that bad - KenFlo's just better

He fights like Tyson Griffin and a lot of wrestlers: Power punching. He just came into the UFC and had to fight Kenny Florian. He should’ve started off lower down the totem pole.
