Cage Cast 73: Crazy News Cycle Edition

What a week. We had the Strikeforce news deluge, then the James Toney signing not to mention that WEC 47 is in Columbus for the Arnold Sports Festival this weekend. How in the world are we going to fit this into one show?
I have no idea how we did it but we did. First WKR talks to Luke Thomas of MMA Nation and Bloodyelbow.com before we delve into Strikeforce and WEC 47.

Good Show
WEC always puts on greats events, or at the very least a great main event. Never have I thought “well that was a waste of time” after their shows. Hope people tune in, should be some amazing fights. Very good point made that 5 of the 6 tops bantamweight fighters are on this card, and if they were LHW fights fans would be going crazy over the card. Smaller fighters in the WEC tend to provide non-stop action, which seems to lack at times in the UFC.
From Dana’s point of view I understand the Toney signing (keep him from going to SF, if he wins Dana can pump him up more, if he loses Dana can rip him/boxing). Not a fan of it though, let him prove his worth elsewhere then bring him to the UFC. I like to think of the UFC as where the best fighters (or best up and coming fighters) go, not a proving ground for 0-0 40 year old boxers. Just put him against Jon Jones, couple kicks to the head will make the boxer think twice about MMA, haha.
