WEC Loves Ohio
When it was announced that the UFC would skip Columbus in early March and the WEC would fill the Midwest venue it was believed that Ohio would become a new permanent destination for World Extreme Cagefighting. Of course, it helps that the Arnold Sports Festival draws tens of thousands of fitness enthusiasts into Columbus the first weekend of March. But the WEC did what it needed to do, filling up a modified Nationwide Arena and drawing a top-five all time attendance for the promotion.
With the UFC globe trotting and opening new markets it made sense to concede a safe market for the WEC to fill and the lighter promotion delivered with meaningful and exciting fights.
In all likelihood the WEC will return and General Manager, Reed Harris (pictured right with a Blue Jackets jersey), hinted at a probable return.
