Anderson Silva Really is a Spider, Defeats Maia via Unanimous Decision
You know the way some spiders trap their prey, shoot venom into them and toy with them for 30 minutes before eating their victim alive and banishing their soul to the bottom of Hades? Yeah, Anderson Silva is that kind of spider.
For five rounds the middleweight champion toyed with Demian Maia to a chorus of boos on way to an unanimous decision victory. Bruce Buffer didn't even read the score cards and Dana White didn’t even bother to put the belt on Silva as he left in the fourth round.
Maia, a jiu-jitsu wizard, was never known for having a solid stand-up game --at one point in his last fight Joe Rogan described Maia’s striking as "amateur"-- was a fish out of water on his feet and attempted to do something, anything while Silva joked around.
It was like watching killer whales playing a game of catch with a sea lion.
Fans are furious with Silva for "disrespecting" the sport, others are mad at Zuffa for the matchmaking (this has happened before with Leites. P.S. we told you).
For many fans Anderson Silva just became a of a Hollywood villain who completely ruined a fight of great action. Sorry Frankie! You just pulled the best upset of the year and now all we are going to talk about is how Silva cocoons his victims.

How fucking epic would it have been
if GSP stepped into the cage post-fight and uttered “Aye wuz naught emprezzed witchur purformenze”?
I don’t see why no one gives him a chance, half the time Anderson is content to dance and GSP is the most tenacious wrestler in the UFC and completes upwards of 75% (iirc) of his takedowns. I’m actually really looking forward to Sonnen getting his shot now.

Zak, you can’t pin this on matchmaking for this event and UFC 97. They had no control over what just happened.

You still not understanding. What does that have to do with Silva clowning around? He could of pulled the same shit on Marquardt. Are you still gonna blame Zuffa? You basically saying he has every right put this bullshit on, because he is not being challenged? That is basically saying If my boss give me an assignment, that I feel I am overqualified, I should dick around and do it half-ass. Don’t blame UFC brass on this. It has nothing to do with opponent. Silva is being dick
Nate Marquardt wouldn’t fared any better than he did the first time. Also, I recalled you saying Maia should of been in there over Leites, last year.

Silva Has Issues
- He’s been really weird when facing BJJ fighters and brazilians.
- Yes, the matchmaking is an issue. When the challenger can only talk about I have to take him down but can’t . . . we have Silva vs. Leites II.
- “I wasn’t humble,” says Silva . . . really??
- Bored, not challenged
- Unapologetic, and kind of insincere . . . he apologizes in the ring then says he doesn’t have to apologize in the post-fight presser
Something is up. I’m a fan, but this really needs to change.
- GSP needs a challenge.
- Silva needs a challenge, an attitude adjustment, a wake-up call and a SERIOUS YELLOW CARD!
- Go Dan Miragliotta!!

for the first time, I really hate Anderson Silva
I hate him so much now he is actually making me kind of like Sonnen.
Silva Fighting/Dancing + "Scatman" Song = Great Video
Silva’s performance wasn’t surprising at all, I am sick of his bowing to the fans and fighters though pre/post fight, it’s a bunch of fake b.s. I ended up just laughing through most of the match, I can’t take his matches seriously because it becomes too infuriating to watch. He’s just MMA comedy to me, I hope GSP or an upper-tier LHW crushes him soon.
Also Big Dan should have given Silva a warning or point deduction when Silva tried “hiding” behind him, that’s making a mockery of the fight and a ref. Doing it with 50 seconds left didn’t have quite the same impact.
+1 for Dana not doing the belt routine, and Rogan for his 1-and-done post fight interview.
