Gus Johnson Does Not Approve of your Strikeforce Antics
Well, that certainly was embarrassing.
Who knew that EliteXC would do more shows on CBS compared to Strikeforce...
Jason "Mayhem" Miller and the boys from Stockton state a near riot inside the cage after Shields retained the title. Who cares what was done or said to instigated the tom-foolery. The only thing you need to know is that Gus Johnson was not amused by the hooliganism.
Enjoy our gallery of Gus Johnson's disappointment. Actually, it feels a lot like your mother's shameful disapproval.

I’m going to play conspiracy theorist here and wonder if Strikeforce didn’t send Miller out to try and create a storyline to convince Shields to stay with Strikeforce. I doubt it worked since I’d imagine Dana White is already drafting a big money UFC contract with Shields’ name on it.
Observations . . .
- I understand many fans are really quick to defend MMA but this kind of sh*t happens in MMA, Boxing, NBA, NFL and especially the NHL. It’s combat sports . . . whatever, it comes with the territory. I am not shocked, appalled or disgusted.
- Gus Johnson. I really don’t know him and I don’t really care for him. But he does serve a purpose.
- Dana White smiles via Twitter.
- Jake Shields did the UFC a favor like Fedor did the UFC a favor when he put Tim Sylvia away.

I hadn’t thought of that, good point.
I don’t think the post-fight skirmish was that big a deal. The low ratings are the real big-deal. The 5-round clinic Shields put on probably did more to turn off prospective fans than anything else. I’m not saying it was a bad fight, just that the new fan probably was expecting something a bit more exciting.

Dan Henderson’s stock plummets tremendously by getting defeated in that manner by a natural 170lbs. fighter. Not to mention Hendo’s stand up looked horrible as everybody could tell he simply wanted one punch and one punch only.
Jake Shields can write his own ticket. Sky’s the limit, he can become a bigger star in the UFC 170lbs. division OR become even greater and do something GSP is very hesitant to do . . . . compete fort the 185lbs. title in the UFC.

If he can get that takedown
Look at the last “jiu-jitsu magician” who tried…
In fairness, I blame Hendo getting the same issue that Rashad Evans did — “the puncher’s chance” mentality. Going with what worked… may not always work.
