Bad for the Sport and Bad for Strikeforce: Post Fight, Fight

Mayhem Miller walked into the cage and stood behind Shields during his victory interview.  It appeared as if Gilbert Melendez did not appreciate Miller attempting to steal spotlight from Shields during Jake's moment and went to push Miller off screen and out of the way.  What ended was a scuffle in the cage, on what I assume, was live television.  Included in the footage was what appeared to be Shields's camp beating up Miller as security had to disperse the fight.  If MMA wanted attention from the mainstream media they will probably now have it.  Ignoring how the media reacts will be how CBS reacts and if they want disassociate themselves with this now.  I am unsure how much was on live t.v. and how much attention it will get, but this is not a case of "no publicity is bad publicity."

It will be very interesting to see how or if this plays out the next few days.  I am sure video will be up somewhere shortly.

UPDATE: Cage Side Seats has more including the video.

This was LIVE TV and Gus Johnson goes “Guys this sometimes happens”

Ugh. Personally this was a disgrace to MMA, but you really have to blame Mayhem and the Stockton company. It was like 10 v 1.

uuuh yeah I write for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Thanks?

This was horrible. They cut away initially, but then came back before going to commercial. Then they replayed how it started after the commercial.

joke

in know way you blame mayham for the manifestation of events. ufc always allow future challengers and such to enter the ring after an oponent has won and it never turns into this mess. Gilbert melendez is to blame when he decided to shove mayham out of the rabid emotions that his camp so often displays. hence the ignorance that the diaz brother so often display. dana white will have a field day with this one! not like boxing hasn’t displayed these actions on multiple occasions though. great job Mayham for showing us the mentality of that camp!
