Revenge of the Dana

(Yep, we just crossed into Star Wars parody territory. 'It's a trap!')

Whether it was providence or dumb luck the fact that Dana White and not Reed Harris is promoting WEC 48 allows the UFC president to fire few more volleys at CBS, Showtime and Strikeforce further galvanizing angry fans against the promotion.

White made several comments during the WEC 48 media call:

Picture_2_medium

Dana is right that Aldo vs. Faber and the entire WEC 48 card should help wash the sour taste of the past several weeks out of our collective mouths. Hell, remember when Georges St. Pierre winning a decision 50-43 was "controversial"?

The UFC president told Sergio Non his hopes for Strikeforce

They (Strikeforce) are going to go away. Showtime (messed) that whole thing up. They'll go away. They'll be off CBS and I won't have to worry about them being so, you know, out in front. When something like that happens on CBS, people are going to hear about it.

If they end up staying with (crappy)-ass Showtime, 200,000 people see it. I can live with that.

Weeds has been of getting a little more over the top lately, but that's neither here nor there.

White also appeared on on Jim Rome's radio show where he voiced his suspicion that Strikeforce helped "Mayhem" get into the cage. That's fine for Internet forum chatter but it's not something

As someone who was actually on site for the event (brace yourself, here comes some actual "reporting") the staff of Strikeforce and CBS were all shell shocked by what happened. Not just the brawl but the fact that "Mayhem" got into the cage in the first place. No one knew what happened and all were unhappy by Miller's actions. If the rebuttal is "they have an interest in covering it up" the rebuttal to that rebuttal is that White has an interest in placing the blame on Strikeforce.

So, what to believe?

Tell, us what you think.

They allowed it!

Whether they actually told him to go in there is another story but they did not control the entrance to the cage so by their lack of control they let Mayhem in. You dont see Gray Maynard coming in to challenge frankie, but if you did you better believe its because the ufc allowed it to happen.

CBS wanted the rematch on the eventual Fedor card

too bad that won’t happen now

They just weren't smart enough...

I think Strikeforce didn’t help Miller into the cage, I think they just weren’t smart enough to even think someone might try to do that. To me Strikeforce is like a kid who is left alone and is fending for itself. It tries to act all adult about stuff but has no real idea how the real world works.

I love Mayhem but do recognize that it’s notally in his nature to think of something like that and just go do it without thinking it through. I’m sure he thought he might get told off by Scott Coker but never thought there would be a brawl.

I don’t think people understand how small Strikeforce’s staff is compared to Zuffa’s.

Shouldn’t part of the blame lie with the Tennessee Athletic Commission? I mean, shouldn’t they have some say as to who is allowed in the cage at an event they are regulating. It shouldn’t be entirely up to Strikeforce staff to work security for state sanctioned event. They certainly need to look after everything but the commission should shoulder some of the responsibility and, thus, some of the blame. I’ll go out on a limb and say that this shit wouldn’t have happened in Nevada, New Jersey or Ohio.
