Jose Aldo is a Velociraptor

Jose-aldo-raptor_medium

While we should always hold off on the over-the-top, superlative praise of a fighter just because they dispatched a fighter they were suppose to beat WKR has to join in on the Jose Aldo fun.

The Fight Metric numbers for the Aldo's 25 minute amputation of Urijah's leg have been making the blogosphere rounds and the stats point to one thing -- Aldo massacred, decimated, scorched earth'd Urjah Faber.

The real question is whether or not there is anyone after Manny Gamburyan to fight Aldoraptor...

Yeah. Jose Aldo is definitely a great fighter, he easily dispatched his two predecessors . . . but "the over-the-top, superlative praise of a fighter " needs to slow down a bit until he has at least 3 or 4 more title defenses.

That's a fun thing about being a fan

Following and supporting a fighter from the beginning is something that a lot of people tend to enjoy. Maybe he’ll be an amazing legend or maybe he’ll have five fights and burn-out? Who knows?

I understand that for an experienced fan you’ve seen potential come-and-go. You’ve seen fighters explode onto the scene and burn-out cause they can’t handle fighter X’s special sauce, the lifestyle, etc. But if things are going good, there’s a new fan made every day and some of them are gonna find their way to a blog that may or may not encourage the excitement they felt seeing that little guy cripple the surfer.

Pardon my clumsy words, but I’m at work and felt like even this attempt might be useful. I totally understand where you’re coming from, but it still seems weird…

I think Aldo will be huge. Like I said, give him 3 – 5 title defenses at 145, then let him challenge contender in the 155 division or let him go straight into the UFC at 155 and continue his streak towards the top.

I really hope he doesn’t compete at 135lbs. What does that prove? They don’t have a dominant champion. Torres lost to Bowles who just lost to Cruz. Cruz lost a while back to Faber at 145. Torres recently got demolished by Benavidez.

Let the NH begin, and when he starts to lose, let the bashing begin

talking about how he beat fighters who never fought nobody just like they did to miguel torres who was praised as one of the best p4p fighters in the world.

I wouldn't say they fought nobody. Those divisions just arn't as deep.

Shit Chuck and Rich both beat a bunch of guys that now we don’t consider to be all that great but at the time they were badass. As the divisions get deeper this is what happens. So in conclusion Aldo is the man and after sat I realized the best part of his game isn’t is Offense but his defense. In MMA Offense gets you the belt defense lets you keep it. Ask Andy or GSP.

This is the second time I’ve seen the Velociraptor but I like the Brazilian Buzzsaw better.
