Was it worth it Urijah?

So that's what ganurple looks like...

That's a picture of Urijah Faber's leg after he suffered an attack from an Aldoraptor.

Pretty disgusting, right? Almost like the is bruised so bad it has gangrene or in this case ganurple.

The question WKR has is, "was it worth it?"

Seriously was the $28,000 that Faber received in disclosed salary worth it?

Why didn't Urijah's corner stop the fight and try to save their fighter some hospital time or stop the Pandorum irus from growing in his leg. But that would've made Faber a "quitter" and not a "warrior". However, Urijah wouldn't have to field any sponsorship calls from Jesus Didn't Tap and that is an unforeseen benefit we can all get behind.

Full salaries for WEC 48 Aldo vs. Faber after the jump.

He probably walked away with more than 200k.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was significantly more than that, even.

u can put warrior and quitter in quotes

but quitting is looked down upon for a reason Uriah fought with no hands and actually finished the fight, Bowles quit on the stool before the third round of his first Title defense

we as fans can revere the people who show heart and balls and we love that.

tell me if you could ever see Wanderlei, Sakuraba, Chuck, Big Nog, or GSP ever doing that?

this is a combat sport and fighting with a broken hand isn’t the smartest thing you can do but its still better than giving up your belt

I’m sure that when Urijah cashes in his 6 figure check that he’ll say it’s worth it. If you don’t want to be hurt go find another job this guy is a warrior and never backed down and kept fighting till the end. If all fighters had that much heart in all combat sports we’d all be better off all you have to do is think of the guy this blog is named after to realise that.

On a non-Urijah side note: It seems strangely disproportionate that Jung’s bonus is thirteen times the amount of his salary. Stepping into the octagon, that’s quite the incentive to put on a good show!
Glad he flew home with $70k instead of $5k.

I hope he did make a ton because

I think, just IMHO, he reps the sport very well. He’s a class act. When I took my son into his gym, when they were still under construction and he was working out here on a mat in the middle of a room that barely had the walls up, he stopped what he was doing to come over and greet us and shake our hands and welcome us to come look around.

Now, sure…you might expect that form a guy who’s trying to get his business off the ground….but then again, a lot of “stars” insulate themselves in their perceived ivory towers and don’t give a crap abut the commoners who patronize their stuff. He came off as a very genuine, likable, normal guy and I think that part escapes a lot of other sports figures after they have made it to the top.
