Dana White Really Likes Cowboy Stadium and their HD TV
(Dana White is not impressed with your high kicks)
Judging by Dana White's recent comments, he really, really wants to hold an event in Cowboys Stadium:
"We're definitely, 100 percent going to Cowboys Stadium, no doubt about it. With our sport, people will fly in from all over the world."
When boxing hit Cowboy Stadium (Dana White was in attendance with his new BFF, Bob Arum) the venue altered their seating to fit 45,000 (the stadium normally seats 80,000 but can can fit over 108,000 with standing room tickets) though the official attendance for Pacquiao vs. Clottey was 50,994. Compare that gate, to the UFC's North American attendance record of 21,451, which was in Montreal for UFC 97 for the record. In the United States the UFC's attendance record is 19,079 achieved at UFC 68 in Columbus, Ohio.
While most of us have gotten over the boxing vs. MMA comparisons, anytime the mainstream press can draw broad conclusions on the health and popularity of the two sports they will. Thus, any UFC event in Cowboys Stadium has to at least come close to that 50,000 number. If not there are sure to be a few mainstream pundits who will make the comparison in order to grind their axe against that "ultimate fighting" the kiddies like.
Thus, it makes sense to conclude that the UFC would hold a super card for the purported Cowboys Stadium event. With UFC 116 booked for the MGM Grand that leaves the UFC's traditional end of the year, mega extrava-violence-ganza as the likely candidate for a 2010 date.
In other words, pay very close attention when the NFL releases the official 2010-11 schedule. Those weekends when the Cowboys aren't playing at home are your best bet for an UFC event in Cowboys Stadium. At least, in 2010...
Then again this analysis may be a waste of time because the UFC in Fenway was totally guaranteed to happen...
(Dana White IS impressed with your cage dancers though)
