Bye Bye Joe Martinez

Diegomesugar_medium

Another member of the Zuffa staff has been let go. According to MMADieHards.com Joe Martinez, the cage announcer for World Extreme Cagefighting, has parted ways with the promotion he has worked for since 2005. Martinez was recognized as the voice of the WEC and was featured in the Urijah Faber Amp commercial.

According to the report the split was in part due to Martinez's involvement with Golden Boy Promotions.

Does this mean Bruce Buffer has a new job?

Highlighting Zuffa's almost Germanic precision, Joe Martinez has already been wiped clean from the WEC's website.

I knew I heard his on some fights!

Honestly, I wouldn’t want to work with anyone involved with Golden Boy, either considering that they are destroying boxing.

Sad to see him go...

To me Joe was part of the WEC brand identity, like the blue cage and all that.

He always sounded too nasally for my preferences, plus he lacked the penache of Buff.
