Georges St. Pierre to train with Freddie Roach *sigh*

Georges St. Pierre will have a photo-op begin training with Freddie Roach *sigh*

UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre broke the news that he will be spending some quality time with world renowned boxing trainer Freddie Roach in the very near future.

"Rush" told Jim Rome on his nationally syndicated radio show that he will be flying to California today to begin training at Roach's Wildcard Gym in Hollywood.

Look, we get it. Freddie Roach is the boxing trainer right now and having him hold gloves for you has to be a huge honor but let's not get ahead of ourselves. For crying out loud Roach had Arlovski sparring three minute rounds -- exclusively! That doesn't sound like he grasps the basic differences between boxing and mixed martial arts.

Still, Roach trains a Filipino Congressman. How many trainers can say that?

The difference is in the head trainers

I think GSP trainging with Roach is a bit different than Arlovski because Faras Zahabi should be able to fit this pure boxing into the bigger training camp picture. Arlovski doesn’t seem very focused in training and doesn’t seem to have the well run camp that GSP has where every step is planned as part of a bigger goal.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. This can only help him. Zahabi is really the key here.

Something that has to be said: St. Pierre is always looking for new camp training.

True but GSP does. So it won’t be a problem.

Pain don't hurt...
