20th Century Fox threatened Rampage with a lawsuit?

Fox-rampage_medium

That's what Rampage told Sherdog.com:

"I'm really ashamed of myself that I fell victim to ring rust. Emotions had nothing to do with it. I focused really hard and I trained really hard on this fight, but me having this damn movie and everything -- I kind of almost regret doing the damn movie now. There was so much pressure. (20th Century) Fox kind of threatened to sue me if I lost and everything because they didn't know I was fighting.

Umm... uhh.... huh?

I would think

That what happened here is Fox threatened some sort of BS (but legally plausible) suit because Rampage was not fulfilling his contractual obligations to promote the film. A certain number of above-the-line talent on all movies are required to do a certain amount of press, etc, by the rules of their contracts, and I would think on the A-Team that included all four members of the Team and Jessica Beal. They would never pull the trigger on it, but it wouldn’t surprise me to hear they pulled the card. What Fox doesn’t realize (because they’re the worst studio in Hollywood from an employment perspective) is that Rampage training for and appearing in the fight WAS promotion for the A-Team.

They threatened to sue if he ditched the promo tour, not if he lost the fight. They would have no legal grounds to sue due to loss.
