Tennessee Athletic Commission takes action in Nashville brawl (aka they sent out letters)

This has to be the photo of the first 1/3 of the year.

The Tennessee Athletic Commission took action regarding the post-fight brawl on CBS and by "take action" we mean they sent out very stern letters to six individuals.

According to Sherdog, Nick Diaz, Jake Shields and Gilbert Melendez received letters but Nate Diaz has not yet received one (the key word being "yet").

Do these letters expressing the commission's desire to call everyone naughty, naughty boys actually punish the fighters involved? Nope. That doesn't mean the TAC won't take action but Strikeforce is planning (preempting if you're a cynic) the commission. WKR already mentioned that Jason "Mayhem" Miller was removed from the June 16th card in L.A. due to his involvement with the Nashville brawl. Now, MMA Junkie reports that Nick Diaz was denied a spot on the June 26th card in San Jose that will be headlined by Fedor.

Cage Writer's headline points out what this really means for the fighters. Get in trouble and you won't fight, which means you won't get paid.

I think it’s the right solution. Keep the AC out of it as much as possible, let the promotions police themselves and step in only when they fail to do so. Money talks.

Except when there is another promotion looking to sign your fighters for more money

I think they should have handled Diaz better so they don’t have 2 champions leave for the UFC… taking the moral high ground is cool and all until you go bankrupt

I think the commissions should hold the right to punish fighters

yes but with fines, suspensions just hurt the sport and the fans

Basically the Tennessee A.C. just gave them one of these:
