How so? The octagon is twice as big as a ring according to cro cop, and the angle at which the corners are are not 90 degrees but instead 135 degrees. That gives you as the cornered party much more realestate to not get cornered and much more room to get out when cornered. Considering how it can not be a corner must be between 1-179 degrees , and the difference between 90 and 135 is 45 ( Which I shouldn’t have to say is more than half of the difference between 90 and 179) it follows that it is at LEAST twice as hard to corner someone in an octagon. Is my math still fuzzy?

The irrational fan love of cro cop has netted me quite a bit of money over the years, picking when he’s going to lose. But for some reason i hate him, despite the fact that hes a nice dude, and has made me a lot of money. I can probably find someway to blame this on my lack of breastfeeding.

Sadly, I agree. If Cro Cop’s nuts are vines then call me Tarzan. However, the sad fact is that Cro Cop is not the same fighter he was in Pride (duh) and his LHK has been reduced to a faded memory.
For chrissakes the last good LHK highlight we have is it grazing over the top of Eddie Sanchez’s head. Back in 2007. Early 2007. That’s three and a half years ago. The old Cro Cop is dead. Although I’m still hoping for a resurrection Saturday night =)

I don't believe...
that I have seen a single person picking Cro Cop for this fight. And I have been checking BE, mmajunkie, this site, mma mania, and even sherdog… Where are these “100’s” of posts? I surely am not one of them. Just haven’t run acrossed any.

MMA + fanboys
Fanboy-ism is endemic in MMA and definitely not limited to Cro Cop. After his PRIDE Open Weight GP win he was the most feared striker in the sport but has been on a downward spiral ever since due to injury, the transition to the cage or whatever. I guess its just a natural tendency to hold out hope that he can return to his dominating form and that he won’t succumb to age or deteriorating skills. It kinda reminds me of all of the Mike Tyson fanboys in boxing who couldn’t admit that he peaked with his destruction of Michael Spinks (that had more to do with Spinks being a natural light hvwght than anything else) and it was all downhill from there. Despite a ton of evidence to the contrary I have to convince some Tyson fanboy that he wouldn’t have KO’d Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali in the same night pretty much every week or so.
As far as the betting odds, keep in mind that they’re as much reflective of public perception as they are the linesmaker’s opinion about the relative strength and weaknesses of the fighter. The sports book just wants balanced action and price wagers accordingly, so they more accurately reflect how they think the public will bet more than trying to ‘predict’ the outcome. Based on recent form, Barry’s ‘true odds’ would probably be -250 or higher so IMO at least he still represents a good wagering value.
