UFC 115: Yves Lavigne, Mac Danzig and a Controversial Call

(At least Yves Lavigne didn't stop a perfect game...)

It didn't take long for UFC 115 to create some controversy.

In the first Spike preliminary fight TUF 6 winner Mac Danzig faced off against Matt Wiman. Wiman was taken down early but swept Danzig and looked in a guillotine choke from mount. It appeared that the choke was tight but Danzig refused to tap. Referee Yves Lavigne jumped in to see if Danzig was unconscious and shook his arm, which was limp causing Lavigne to call the fight. However Mac jumped up immediately afterward and was clearly not unconscious. It didn't matter as the fight was called.

Fans and UFC announcer, Joe Rogan, were livid with the decision. "Yves Lavigne and any referee has a really hard job in this sport," said the defeated Danzig who went on to absolve Lavigne of wrong doing.

Attention will immediately turn to a potential rematch between the two lightweights.
